The operation strengthens the Group’s presence and builds on the investment plan implemented in recent years

La Jonquera, 19 October 2026

This October, Grup Tramuntana has incorporated the SOL Supermarket in La Jonquera into its business structure. This operation strengthens the company’s presence in the municipality and marks another step forward in the process of modernisation, consolidation and growth that the Group has pursued in recent years.

The acquisition also brings 28 employees into Grup Tramuntana, who will now become part of the company’s workforce.

Initially, SOL Supermarket will retain its name, visual identity and usual operations, with the aim of ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of business activities for customers, employees and suppliers alike.

At the same time, a gradual integration process will begin, covering procedures, systems and working methods. In the medium term, Grup Tramuntana will assess the various options for the supermarket’s future, a matter the Group is already actively working on.

A Growth Plan Looking Ahead to 100 Years

The incorporation of SOL Supermarket is part of the growth and modernisation plan pursued by Grup Tramuntana in recent years, which gained renewed momentum in 2025, coinciding with the celebration of its 80th anniversary.

At that time, Tramuntana launched an investment plan aimed at modernising its facilities, strengthening its market presence and preparing the company for continued growth, with its sights set on celebrating its first 100 years of history.

This roadmap has gradually taken shape through various initiatives, including the complete refurbishment of the Tramuntana supermarket in Le Perthus, the renovation of the Tramuntana 4 supermarket in La Jonquera and the modernisation of several commercial facilities.

Espai Tramuntana and the Expansion of the Service Station Network

One of the major investments during this period has been the construction of the new Mas del Pla building, inaugurated at the end of 2025, which, together with the subsequent complete refurbishment of the Tramuntana 3 supermarket, has given rise to the new Espai Tramuntana shopping centre in La Jonquera.

This new shopping centre has enabled the Group to expand and diversify its offering, bringing together a supermarket, the Éclair perfumery with its innovative retail concept, the Txots restaurant and a tobacconist’s shop under one roof. The project represents the transformation of one of Tramuntana’s main retail locations into a model that integrates different activities and services in a single location.

Throughout 2026, Tramuntana has also expanded its operations in the service station sector. At the beginning of the year, the Group added a petrol station in El Port de la Selva and, just a few weeks ago, opened a new service station in Vilatenim. Both complement the existing petrol station operated by the Group in La Jonquera.

With the incorporation of SOL Supermarket, Grup Tramuntana continues to pursue this growth strategy, combining the modernisation of its existing establishments, the diversification of its activities and the acquisition of new businesses, while maintaining its long-term commitment to La Jonquera and the surrounding region.

Founded in 1945 by the Raurich family, Grup Tramuntana maintains strong ties with La Jonquera, Le Perthus and the Alt Empordà region. The Group operates across several sectors, including retail distribution, perfumery, restaurants, hospitality and service stations.
